Three different jobs

Directors often search for "an alternative" when what they really want is to stop one specific headache. Most camp tools are built around one of these three jobs:

1. Health records and the health center

Collecting health histories, controlling who can see medical information, recording medications given, and logging incidents and injuries. CampDoc's health features cover this: digital health forms, permission-based access to health data, an eMAR for medication administration, and incident and injury logs.

2. Running the whole camp

Registration, payments, rosters, staff, scheduling, and family communication in one system. Both companies describe themselves as covering this too. CampDoc calls itself "Camp Registration & Health Software", bringing "registration, digital health records, payments, rosters, and reporting together." CampMinder describes a platform with "20+ camp-specific tools in one," including registration, billing, staff hiring, forms, a health center, and email and text messaging.

3. Getting every family to finish what they owe

Knowing which families still haven't turned in a form, signed a waiver, or paid, and following up with each of them until they do. This is the job Playvent does. It's narrower than the other two on purpose.

A side-by-side, kept honest

Based on each company's own public description. Where a cell says "not described", that company's homepage didn't mention it. It doesn't mean they lack it, so ask them.

When Playvent is the wrong choice

If you need a health center: medication passes, incident logs, controlled access to medical records. Playvent doesn't do that, and you should look at software like CampDoc. Same if you need to replace registration, payments, or staff hiring. That's camp-management software like CampDoc or CampMinder. Playvent doesn't integrate with either. It works next to whatever you use.

When it's worth adding Playvent

If your systems hold the forms just fine, but you still spend the weeks before camp chasing the families who haven't finished, that's the gap Playvent fills. Import your families from a spreadsheet, link the forms that live in your other system (or upload your own PDFs), and Playvent texts each connected family about their child's specific missing item until it's done. Completion of a form in another system is marked by the parent or by you, since Playvent doesn't read that system.

• Do reminders go by email, text, or both, and do they name the specific missing item?
• Do reminders stop automatically once a family finishes?
• Can I see, in one list, exactly which campers aren't ready?
• What does it cost for a program of my size, and is there a trial?
• Can I keep my current registration system?

Is Playvent a CampDoc replacement?

No. CampDoc covers registration, health records, and day-to-day camp operations. Playvent handles one narrower job: getting families to complete what they owe before camp. The two can run side by side.

Does Playvent integrate with CampDoc or CampMinder?

Not directly. You import families from a spreadsheet and link forms that live elsewhere. Playvent tracks and follows up from there.

Can Playvent collect our health form?

It can collect the answers to a health form by text or on your own PDF, and get it signed. It isn't a medical-records system, though, and doesn't do medication administration or nurse charting.
